Isi presented this concept and we just ran with it! He is an awesome photographer, and I am always excited about working with him. He is quick, concise, straight to the point, travels light and clearly has a great eye.

Our original inspiration featured a male and a female, however we had not found a male model with the desired physique so we decided to mix it up and use two females. The models were excited and awesome to work with. We met early morning to prep hair and makeup in my home studio, then headed over to the beach.

As you can imagine, although I live just a block from the lake, the wind is a different beast when you are actually ON the lake/beach....it is no fluke as to why they call Chicago the Windy City. The good thing was, since it was so cold, we had the beach to ourselves...... minus a few curious onlookers. So we cranked up some music and got busy!

With Starbucks to warm us up and fleece blankets and sweaters on hand. The girls stripped down to their minimal wardrobe and braved the cold so we could get some great shots. Trust me they were FREEZING! The cold even bought a few tears to Dominique's eyes. You see I have on my ski vest and scarf and I was still cold!

We worked fairly quickly....doing minimal touch ups here and there. Cari did a great job with the hair, a bantu knot set on Imani and soft curls on Dominique......nothing that wind would rip through and destroy. The makeup look was very natural, soft contouring, nude lips, earth tone shadows, with a hint of shimmer on the lid and a touch of color on the cheeks. (see makeup list at end of post). Sheen was added to their exposed skin to give it a glistened effect.

It was a great shoot! Beautiful yet simplistic. Loved the crisp white against the brown skin and sand. Once we wrapped, we couldn't get to our cars fast enough to blast the heat!! I can't wait to see the remainder of the actual images! Until the next time!!
